As Bong Soon acknowledged her gift fully, she devoted her time and effort in improving her power through Min Hyuk’s training. Slowly but surely her love connection is branching to an unfamiliar face away from her one sided love.
Hitting the 6th episode calls for the story to reassure and engross the audience by turns so I’m happy that love plots and conflicts are settling in and building to a more solid frame. Gook Doo and his team worked on the leads to pin the psycho. Bong Soon came to terms with how she can use her gift through Min Hyuk’s encouragement. Min Hyuk and Gook Do were starting to see her in a romantic kind of light. And we get a late frame surprise that I did not ask to arrive early.
Bong Soon’s encounter with the psycho warranted her boss and her one-sided love to work on her protection. Neighborhood psycho almost kidnapped Kyung Shim for his new victim, but Bong Soon came in time to stop him.
Obviously Gook Doo keeps Bong Soon in his heart, why he did not make a move to go beyond the friend zone is one o those things we should look forward to. I like how our creepy conflict functions as a neutralizer to the witty and slapstick comedy we are being high so far. This love triangle premise is slowly breaking my heart, and it has not even happened yet. I just can’t bear to think of it.
It was a peek on Do Bong Soon’s growing up life this episode as we traversed on how she has lived adjusting to her power and worrying about her infatuation to Gook Doo along the way. We also caught a glimpse of Min Hyuk’s bullied childhood and his growing interest at his bizaare bodyguard. Min Hyuk and Bong Soon went to party with Kyung Shim and Bong Ki. Signs are showing for the looming love triangle arc.
We are finally getting to a steamier love plot which will make everyone happy and confused at the same time since we have an equally adorable second lead. I like how this drama is technically bare, but its simplicity and the amazing cast synergy accompanied by the evr prrsent humor keeps any viewer feeling good after watching it. While providing the gist of the background of our characters, “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” presented the love premise and conflict in a smooth way. The ratings are justifying everything that we are getting from this drama so far. Sometimes there are stories like Do Bong Soon’s that we all need a taste of each week to wash out some of our life stress.
Gook Doo and Min Hyuk continuously bickered about Bong Soon. The boss and his bodyguard sought the owner of the motorcycle, but realized too late that they got the wrong guy. Bong Soon is up for a second round to the high school bullies she previously encountered. Bong Soon got jealous after meeting Gook Doo’s girlfriend and mustered the will to question why he is being nice to her. On her way home to buy some beer for the family, she heard a scream of another possible victim of abduction in the neighborhood.
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon Ep 3
Bong Soon drives the car to her neighborhood and utters how she really thinks Min Hyuk’s father fits the profile of his stalker, but he disregards her crazy thought. Bong Soon bumps with her mom on the way home as the psycho hunts his new prey.
Do Bong Soon decides on taking a bodyguard job for the country’s most pompous CEO, Ahn Min Hyuk. She encounters a psychopath who has murdered a woman and abducted another victim in their neighborhood. Following what transpired from Episode 1, we shifted from the buoyant pilot episode to some riveting undertones. As long as this trio remain cool, wacky and charming… we would never go wrong.
Episode 2 Quick ThoughtsWow! This premiere week will hook up anyone who is in a kdrama slump to go back to life. The fast paced quirky rom-com promises to hook us in an addictive run if the production team will not mess up the thriller plot incorporated. dear park bo young, you’re the best.I think Gook Doo likes Bong Soon as well, but it was a case where he was not able to find the right timing to convert the friendship to romance while they were growing up together. But his protective instinct towards her is very evident so I’m really excited to see the love triangle development soon.Hyung Sik shares the same bread and butter romcom element of bickering with the lead girl that I can’t wait to see him caught in a love bug because I sure will enjoy Bong Soon’s payback for all the stress he gave her. What’s amusing about his character is how he diverts from the lead man prototype and yet he looks the same. It’s hard to put it in words but his interaction with Bong Soon cracks me up a lot because for now we get to see him hilarious without the love connection, so when we hit the romantic rope, I wonder how more hilarious he can get because he loves rationalizing everything. We have a bright drama ahead of us and I’m very much happy to count the days to get to Friday and Saturday each week. It is safe to say that I recommend this drama a lot for your rainy and sunny days. -jediprincess
Welcome to Dobong gu, home of Do Bong Soon who lives in Dobong dong. Here we will get to know a heroine with superhuman strength as she conquers her colorful life and her journey on finding love.
EPISODE 1 Quick ThoughtsWe have a solid love triangle, vivacious main cast, cute storyline, and exciting pacing. Need we ask more? Strong Woman Do Bong Soon will surely stride for an amazing spectacle seeing the great chemistry of the trio and how the storytelling is neat and funny so far. I love the character sketches. I love how our hero has figured out all the answers to his illustrious life and how he lives to his gaming company owner persona and treating every life setback as a challenge to overcome for him. Oh and Bong Soon’s one sided love to Gook Doo is cute as hell. I can’t wait to see the two guys fight for her heart already. I love how the premiere week already laid the premise of Bong Soon’s power’s back story. Park Hyung Sik is my happy pill these days and I am just a happy fan seeing him devote so much for his character. Ji Soo is also doing a great job that if he continues like that we will get another taste of what Goblin and Reaper bromance left us. I can’t wait for next week to happen and I hate that I have to count days because I have not been doing that at least since last year even with the influx of amazing kdramas. At least there will be an alternative romcom cutesy to neutralize the heavy hitters airing these days in kdramaland. -jediprincess
Annyeong yorabeun! It’s funny how I miss the fast paced let’s-watch-all-the-kdrama spree last year because I’m having a lull right now and I have to wait for the weekend to binge on my watchlist.
Hwarang ended this week and warts and all I love the bromance and the warrior school life of those boys. I was intending to recap it to the end, but I’m still thinking if I will go back on it. I caught a hyungsik love pill from that drama so I will be hands on “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” which will air tonight at JTBC.
Chief Kim, Voice and Tomorrow with You are what I am fully commited on these days. I will be adding Defendant since my work rest days fall on Thursday and Friday and I sometimes find myself idle. lol
Chief Kim just delivers a hilarious and refreshing workplace drama every week that I set aside Saimdang for the mean time. Voice’ gritty and thrilling police procedural showcase is just leaving me attached to it every week. Tomorrow with You is the only romance story I can get to these days and the sphere has been intriguing so I am on board with them.
I will be recapping Strong Woman Do Bong Soon with all my noona romance for Park Hyung Sik. Happy Weekend everyone!
Bright, Cheerful and Feel Good have always been the after effect of an episode dose of Oh My Ghostess for me. Supernatural plot is a make or break deal in kdramas. It needs to be flaunting when the plot needs it, and it needs to see reasons when you over expose it.
I like the richness of the father-daughter filial love in the story as it literally transcended the after life. I like how cheeky and sweet Sun Woo was at the same time, his reactions were adorable. I like how Park Bo Young was able to differentiate Na Bong Sun and Shin Soon Ae’s characters to fit in with the way the actual Soon Ae was playing in the story. I like how the romcom elements fused well with the metaphysical plot of the story by making the love leads face their issues straight on and seeing the reasons right away.
Every main character in this drama has his own story that the love line was not the main thing that got me hooked with it. It was how each character’s story along with the conflicts that entwined them brought the love story closer and concluded the conflicts neatly.
It was the most consistent romantic-comedy for me this year, yes even with the slight tragic plot. The chemistry of the love couple was impeccable that all the followers of this drama would agree how Bong Sun and Sun Woo made our heart fluttered with their bipolar-disorder-misguided-romance. It’s hard not to drum your feet on your bed and grin when Sun Woo went to his usual i’m-the-man antics and Bong Sun’s pesky man cravings guided by Soon Ae.
If you are needing a love elixir to boost your already blooming relationship of if you just want a perfect romcom drama getaway.. This one is for you.
All her life Na Bong Sun has remained passive and introverted after taking after her grandmother’s shamanic powers. Her ability to see ghosts has made her meek and always yielding to be able to blend in with people around her.
Gossip-ghost-network has marked Shin Soon Ae as a mischievous wandering ghosts who can’t reconcile the sad truth that she died not being able to sleep with a man. She frequently hosted on women in search of the man who would fulfil her dying-a-virgin grievances.
Na Bong Sun and Shin Soon Ae crossed path when the latter was being chased by ajumma-shaman who wanted to contain the man-seeking-ghostess and when Na Bong Sun was drained from work and personal problems. When Soon Ae tried to leave Bong Sun’s body, she realized she was trapped momentarily, and assumed Bong Sun’s identity. She later learned how Bong Sun’s body frequency matched with her and that she is the key that will help her find the man of vitality who would deflower her and send her peacefully to the next life.
Lacking in self-confidence Na Bong Sun frequently cause small accidents in the restaurant where she is working. And in those unfortunate mishaps, she would always plead apologies. But when bubbly Soon Ae’s persona burst in, people in her work place felt it was weird how she changed from being meek and kind to being loud and assertive.
When head chef Kang Sun Woo inadvertently lip locked with Na Bong Sun/Soon Ae, he pieced out something disturbing happening with his staff. At that same time Soon Ae discovered how Sun Woo is the man she was looking for. Blaming it to the not so pleasant pep talk they had when she caused an accident while trying to fight of Soon Ae’s possession, he had her checked by a doctor and believed the bipolar disorder diagnosis given by the doctor was the reason for the extreme attitude changes she was having.
After being kicked out from the study-hotel she was staying, Na Bong Sun/Soon Ae ended up staying in the rooftop room of the restaurant adjacent to Sun Woo’s room and little by little they get closer.
Soon Ae and Na Bong Sun officially became sisters when jealous Bong Sun who has been having a one-sided love with Sun Woo got scared when she realized Sun Woo’s first love started showing signs of liking him. They made a pact to claim Sun Woo who by then was already falling in love for Bong Sun.
Finally freeing himself from his first love who married his deceased best friend, Sun Woo bravely declared love to Bong Sun and the two caught hearts surrounding them in the next days with their new couple status. Bong Sun overlooked how Soon Ae has also grown to like Sun Woo, and when it finally dawned on her, she was slumped in the idea of between her and Soon Ae who did Sun Woo really fall in love with.
Mustering courage to fight for her love she revealed to Sun Woo the ploy she and Soon Ae agreed to, which left him disappointed and stoic. Around that time Soon Ae has also untangled the mystery of her death and has come to terms that her soul cannot find peace because it seeks justice. Sun Woo also uncovered the dangerous side of his brother-in-law, Officer Choi Sung Jae, but he was quick to uptake and kidnapped Bong Sun when he was pushed to the limit of his wrong doing. Bong Sun asked a ghost child to push Officer cellphone and was able to send Sun Woo a hint of her location. He successfully traced the orphanage and rescued Bong Sun while ajumma shaman vanquished the evil spirit haunting Officer Choi’s body.
Officer Choi was revealed to have been taken by an evil spirit because of his troubled past. He was also the culprit who ran over Sun Woo’s sister which led to her being paralyzed. Seul Gi witnessed the hit-and-run accident and she accidentally told Officer Choi what she saw and was late to grasp that she was talking to the exact person who did the crime. She ran but was later caught and murdered by Officer Choi.
After solving her death issues, Soon Ae finally move on to after life. Sun Woo entered Bong Sun to a cooking competition and when she won, she was given a chance to study abroad.
Afraid of going back to Sun Woo’s arms, Bong Sun braved the long-distance relationship problems and tried hard to focus on her studies. When she finally came back, she paid a visit to Soon Ae’s dad and promised him that she will work in his restaurant. After that, she settled permanently in Sun Woo’s arms.
This really narrated the story about hot blooded youth set in the 80’s. Boiling hot that half of the story just involved brawls and bullyings. kkk I like period movie productions because I get to be transported back to the time when I was not yet born or too young to remember. And in this movie the only feel good thing I remembered is how I was able to have that “they-were-like-that-in-those-times” thoughts.
Joong-gil used to dote and protect Young-suk when they were in gradeschool but when he was misled that his mom left because of his father’s long absence due to work, he presumed that his dad’s frequent staying in Young-suk’s mother’s restaurant was because of an affair. The friendship fell apart and Joong-gil became a resident playboy as Young-suk became the leader of the high school’s sorority group in High School.
Eventually Joong-gil learned of his mother’s infidelity. Young-suk engaged in a fight with the girl (So-hee),Joong-gil likes and just decided to quit school and head to Seoul. Young-seok’s boyfriend and also the leader of another school gang avenged Young-seok which infuriated Choon-gil but his weak self can’t match to his opponent’s strength. To protect Joong-gil from being beaten up, Young-suk was clobbered by her former gang as she stepped out of her throne and left the town to let life bring her to where she could be. Joong-gil learned of Young-suk’s sacrifice but he was already too late to claim back his first love who left him a letter encouraging him to pursue his dream of being a sailor. He pursued his dream and years later went to visit Young-suk and married her.
It was not as affecting and enchanting as “A Werewolf Boy”, and most of the time it was lacking of engaging elements. It spiked up a little in the dying minutes, but overall it was not as engrossing as I hope it would be. The potential of a nostalgic youth film was there but it lacked comic inserts and spotlight scenes that would make the viewers relate to the characters, or just even reminisce those reckless days they also had when they were young. Fairly done, but a movie you will just easily forget.
I initially feared that this movie could go overrated considering the familiar plot and stellar main leads but I’m so happy to have chanced upon a very beautiful, unconventional, heartwarming first love movie. The last time I felt it was with the film “The Classic” and I couldn’t be any happier witnessing a young love that was not bound to happen but felt so right.
Suni moved to a new house with her family. Her father passed away and the son of his father’s business partner who harbored unreturned love for her helped them settle to the new home. The house was previously owned by a doctor who died mysteriously.
Then a young man who appeared to have caved in for a while resurfaced, and unsure of who should take care of him Suni’s family temporarily took care of him, and named him Cheol-su.
Cheol-su extremely loved to eat and in a rush, barbaric way but Suni was able to make use of the dog training book she read and little by little he learned the normal way of how human lives. She taught him how to be patient and was able to form a bond that only her and him can understand.
When Suni refused to see the evil suitor, Cheol-su got enraged and morphed to a beast and dealt with evil suitor and his minions. Evil suitor demanded to take him out the house but the police decided against his claim. He accidentally bumped on the old house owner’s belonging and located a professor who revealed that the deceased former house owner was experimenting on fusing the qualities of a wolf and a human to create strong soldiers, thus the end product was Cheol-su. The latter got caged and underwent observation and was proven not harmful but evil suitor taunted him to show his beast nature and to save Cheol-su from the town police who was after him, she has to push him away so he won’t follow her.
Suni and her family left the house eventually and left a letter for him.
47 years later halmoni Suni got a call from Korea that the house was up for selling as a new resort was soon to be built. For the last time, she slept at the house and in the morning she went to Cheol-su’s roomcage, and there he was… he didn’t age and was holding the letter she left for him.
The fantasy element surprisingly blended to the heartfelt connection of the main couple as the simplicity of the narrative and the conflict failed to stripped the amazing progression of this moving love tale that will surely tug your heart.
Song Joong-ki was very remarkable in his role, mind you he only said a few words all throughout the movie and his chemistry with Park Bo Young was very evident. They should do a drama together. I strongly recommend this movie for first time korean movie watcher. I promise you, sweet sighing moments and bliss. I promise you those young love memories you miss.
